World’s first Artificial Intelligence Act

European Commission presents the world´s first draft legislative framework for regulating Artificial Intelligence (AI).

On 21 April 2021, the European Commission presented its proposal for a regulation governing systems and practices in the field of artificial intelligence. This is the first regulatory act of its kind worldwide. It aims to set a robust and flexible legal framework for ensuring that AI systems are trustworthy, safe, and secure. In this GSK Update, we would like to inform you about the content of the EU Commission’s draft regulation and the status of the discussion. We highlight the key requirements and obligations that will be imposed on providers of high-risk AI systems in particular when the draft AI regulation is adopted.
