GSK Update: The Transparency International Corruption Perception Index 2018

Same procedure as every year: last Tuesday, January 29, 2019 Transparency International (TI) published the 24th edition of the Corruption Perception Index (CPI).

At first sight, vintage 2018 does regrettably not reveal any surprises:  as last year, too, the world wide score average of all 180 covered countries remains stuck at critically low 43 out of 100 points. And again two thirds of all countries could not make it above the threshold of 50 points. So the prospects for the international combat against corruption remains bleak. With handball world champion Denmark another Scandinavian country made it fairly unsurprisingly to the top of the TI CPI league table.

But then the TI CPI 2018 does reveal some surprises: the USA dropped out of the Top Twenty and not insignificant players like the People´s Republic of China or Turkey had to suffer losses – in other words corresponding geographical risks are on the rise.

Long story short – Compliance remains a challenge also in 2019. Enjoy reading our GSK Update which is available as download.
