GSK strengthens Berlin Office through New Partner with Public Sector Focus

GSK Stockmann + Kollegen continues its focus on industries and is further expanding the public sector practice in the Berlin office.
Dr. Jan Hennig, previously associate partner in public law with Gleiss Lutz, will strengthen the office of GSK Stockmann + Kollegen in the German capital as equity partner effective as of May 26, 2014.

Dr. Jan Hennig (38) studied law in Berlin and Paris and since 2006 has been practicing public commercial law with a focus on building and planning law, energy and environmental law as well as regulation and policy-related advice as an attorney in the Berlin office of Gleitz Lutz. He has many years of experience advising on public law issues in real estate and energy infrastructure projects. For example, he provided advice on retail projects (e.g. shopping centers, furniture stores) and major commercial developments (high-rise projects, logistics real estate). In the energy sector, he advised on power plant and grid expansion projects. Jan Hennig is also active in the field of regulation & government-related advice. Here he represents the public sector as well as domestic and foreign clients before federal ministries and other authorities.

„We are very pleased that Dr. Hennig has chosen us,“ says Dr. Mark Butt, spokesman of the public law practice at GSK. „Jan Hennig strengthens GSK’s public law practice and the Berlin office through his experience in the area of regulation & governmentrelated advice. In addition, there are great potentials for synergies with our real estate and corporate departments – for example regarding building permits in project development, the energy infrastructure, real estate transactions, or admission procedures in the automotive sector.“

With the addition of Dr. Jan Hennig GSK strengthens the positioning of its Berlin office as the office in the German capital. „We focus increasingly on the naturally unique capital city function of the city and the resulting tasks,“ commented Berlin partner Dr. Christian R. Schmidt. „With the public law expertise of Jan Hennig, especially in the area regulation & government-related advice, we deepen our networking on the state and federal levels. The Berlin office already has a strong position in advising the public sector with respect to real estate commercial law, corporate law and compliance.“

Dr. Jan Kehrberg of the project development practice group adds:
„Jan Hennig is the optimal addition to our advice practice for private investors as well as the public sector in the field of public law, especially in infrastructure and urban development projects.“
