GSK Stockmann + Kollegen further expands its Projects & Public Sector practice area

The practice group Projects & Public Sector of GSK Stockmann + Kollegen is growing with another lateral partner further advancing the focus on sectors and areas of expertise. As of June 1, 2016, the Hamburg office will be bolstered by its eighth partner, Dr. Stefan Geiger (38). As a new Local Partner he joins from Stenger LLP, where he most recently worked as a salary partner.

Dr. Stefan Geiger advises on public law and, as a certified specialist lawyer for administrative law, specializes in construction, planning, and environmental law. A focus of his advisory services lies in the infrastructure, real estate, and renewable energy sectors. In these areas, he provides comprehensive advice to project developers, investors and banks as well as to energy providers and public-sector companies.

“By hiring Stefan Geiger, we managed to find an ideal addition to the Projects & Public Sector practice area”, comments Dr. Mark Butt, spokesperson for the practice group of GSK Stockmann + Kollegen. “We are very much looking forward to further advancing our focus on the infrastructure, real estate, and energy sectors”.

Beyond providing advice to typical issues relating to construction and planning law in the context of project developments and real estate transactions, Stefan Geiger is actively involved in various infrastructure projects and represents his clients in administrative proceedings. His special experience in the energy sector comprises complex permit granting processes, e.g. for major wind power stations, as well as public law and energy law due diligence for large-scale projects. In this context, he works for both financing banks as well as for investors.

For GSK’s Hamburg office, the addition of Dr. Stefan Geiger is also a great benefit. Dr. Michael Jani comments on behalf of the Hamburg partners: “We are looking forward to Stefan Geiger joining. He is very well connected, both in the real estate as well as in the energy sector, but in particular, his focus on public law is an ideal fit for our strategy, which envisages an expansion of these competences and a further growth of GSK’s Hamburg office and the North German market.”

Stefan Geiger’s key activities offer a high synergy potential in relation to advisory services areas which are traditionally strong at GSK. “The infrastructure and energy sectors are the focus of interdisciplinary teams nationwide in Germany”, comments Dr. Olaf Schmechel, co-managing partner of GSK Stockmann + Kollegen. “With the upcoming developments in the Renewable Energies market, Stefan Geiger arrives at exactly the right time in order to support new projects for our clients, working closely with our established partners.”

Dr. Stefan Geiger himself is also looking forward to the cooperation: “I am very much looking forward to working with the colleagues at GSK and to the exchange within the Broadlaw Group. For me, this change represents, both professionally and personally, a further development of my advisory services practice; GSK offers me an excellent platform to provide comprehensive advice to my clients.”
