GSK Stockmann advises Ruby in connection with the realization of several hotels and co-working properties in Germany

GSK Stockmann has recently advised the hotel chain Ruby Hotels on the lease of a hotel to be built on the Capitol-site in Cologne. GSK Stockmann had already been active for the Ruby Group in securing the location of hotels in Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt as well as co-working properties in Munich and Hamburg.

Ruby Hotels & Resorts GmbH, founded five years ago in Munich, has published that in 2020 it will open a new hotel in “Lean Luxury” standard on the Capitol-site in Cologne. The building owner, Proximus Real Estate from Cologne, from whom Ruby has leased the hotel on a long-term basis, will build the house entirely in the design of the brand. The new hotel building in the inner courtyard of the site will have 186 rooms on a property area of around 4,000 sqm. Based on the history of the house, in which Harald Schmidt and Stefan Raab, among others, went on air “Late Night” and also in the style of the city, the interior design is characterized by Cologne’s film and television scene.

The GSK Stockmann Hotels & Leisure practice group has advised and represented comprehensively Ruby Hotels in the drafting of contracts and negotiations.

GSK Stockmann has already worked very extensively for Ruby. The “Ruby Lotti”, with 289 rooms the largest hotel of the group so far, will open its doors in summer 2018 in Hamburg directly at the Stadthausbrücke. Thematically, it is dedicated to reportage journalism of the 1960s and 1970s, based on the history of the former publishing house and the adjacent press district. GSK Stockmann advised the hotel company in the contract negotiations with a fund of the PATRIZIA Group.

In addition, GSK Stockmann provided legal support to the Ruby Group in the lease of a hotel with around 200 rooms in Frankfurt’s “Junghof”. Ruby also used the legal support of GSK Stockmann to secure the location of the “Ruby Leni” with its 166 rooms in Düsseldorf's Carlstadt.

After all, GSK Stockmann was involved in the realization of the first co-working concepts of the Ruby Group. GSK Stockmann advised on the leasing of the “Ruby Works” which started last year. Just last December, the workspaces of “Ruby Hans” opened in Hamburg’s historic Kontorhaus, located in Steinhöft 9.
