GSK appoints three partners from its own ranks

GSK Stockmann has named three lawyers from its midst as partners. In total, one equity partner, two local partners and two counsels will be added as of 01 January 2018. With these appointments, GSK boosts its own young talent and encourages specialization in sectors and areas of expertise.

GSK Stockmann’s partnership has resolved to name Oliver Koos (Projects & Public Sector, Frankfurt) equity partner. Additionally, associates Dr. Christoph Strelczyk (Real Estate, Hamburg) and Dr. Marcel Vietor (Corporate / Automotive & Mobility, Munich) have been made local partners. Dominik Berka (Tax, Frankfurt) and Dr. Harald Feiler (Banking / money-laundering law and compliance, Frankfurt) have been made counsel.

“We would like to extend our warmest congratulations and are very pleased to be able to appoint an equity partner, two local partners and two counsels this year and in so doing continue to grow steadily from our own ranks,” commented Dr. Olaf Schmechel, co-managing partner at GSK Stockmann, on the partnership’s decision.

Oliver Koos successfully studied law at the Justus-Liebig-Universität in Giessen and graduated from an additional qualification program in private building law at the Philipps-Universität in Marburg. During this additional qualification program, for which Prof. Dr. Oliver Moufang is a lecturer, Mr. Koos found his way to GSK as a legal trainee in Prof. Dr. Moufang’s team and has been at GSK ever since. Since then Mr. Koos has become a lecturer for real estate law himself at the Hochschule Rhein-Main in Wiesbaden. He has been admitted to the bar as a lawyer and worked at GSK since 2010. In 2015 he was made a local partner and now, three years later, an equity partner. “Naming Oliver Koos an equity partner is a reflection of his com-mitment and entrepreneurial success in our Projects & Public Sector practice area. Mr. Koos has particular expertise in questions of building contract law, ranging from counsel during construction (e.g. Henninger Tower and subway line U5 (Eu-ropaviertel) in Frankfurt) to dispute resolution, that has further strengthened the practice area,” said Dr. Mark Butt, speaker for Projects & Public Sector.

In the Real Estate practice area, GSK Stockmann names Dr. Christoph Strelczyk a local partner. Dr. Strelczyk has been admitted to the bar as a lawyer since 2011 when he also started working at GSK, initially in Munich and then in the Hamburg office. He studied law at LMU in Munich and, after finishing his studies and train-eeship, continued on directly to complete his doctorate there. During this time, he was also working for a major international law firm and the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Cultural Affairs in the central procurement office. Dr. Strelczyk specializes in real estate business law, especially as an advisor for transactions (asset as well as share deals), and in commercial tenancy law. Other focuses of his work as a lawyer are investment and corporate law. “With Dr. Strelczyk, GSK Stockmann has an excellent lawyer in its midst. One with a high level of professional expertise, particularly in real estate business law. With his help we plan to expand our activities in the areas mentioned and build on our successes so far,” said Dr. Dirk Brückner, speaker for the Real Estate practice area and adds, “I look forward to our future collaboration and congratulate him on this next step in his career.”

Dr. Marcel Vietor has been admitted to the bar as a lawyer since 2010 and an asset to the Corporate team surrounding Dr. Andreas Bauer at GSK Stockmann in Munich since 2013. Besides successfully studying law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich and obtaining his doctorate at the legal faculty of the Universität Augsburg, Dr. Vietor successfully completed a degree in business administration at the Berufsakademie Stuttgart (Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg) and the Open University London. Dr. Vietor works in the Corporate practice area with a focus on corporate law / M&A as well as corporate litigation. In past years he has been particularly successful in his corporate law practice. “My heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Vietor, I look forward to our further collaboration in Corporate,” Max Wilmanns, speaker for the Corporate practice area, commented on the partnership’s decision. “Dr. Vietor has a high level of expertise in corporate law. By promoting him, we are especially strengthening our advisory segment Automotive & Mobility.”

The GSK partnership also bestowed counsel status on Dominik Berka (Tax, espe-cially real estate, investment, corporate tax law and tax litigation) and Dr. Harald Feiler (specialist for money-laundering-law and compliance). Both contribute to the firm’s growth with their highly qualified work, legal knowledge and their dedication and involvement within the firm. They are each a confirmed expert in their legal field whose know-how is esteemed and utilized in all of GSK’s offices and advisory prac-tice areas.

In the words of Dr. Oliver Glück, co-managing partner at GSK Stockmann: “We wish you all another successful year at GSK Stockmann in 2018 and look forward to continuing our good and collegial collaboration.”
