GSK Stockmann advises FONDSGRUND and five institutional investors on the purchase of the Technical Town Hall in Leipzig

A GSK Stockmann team led by Michael Jani advised the Hamburg-based investment and asset manager FONDSGRUND and a club of German institutional investors led by Volksbank Mittelhessen on the acquisition of the “Technical Town Hall” in Leipzig. The team provided comprehensive advice on real estate, corporate, tax, investment and antitrust law.

Built in 1996 and modernised in 2009, the property at Prager Strasse 118-136 has 45,000 sqm of floor space and 300 parking spaces. The City of Leipzig has a long-term lease on the building, which houses the majority of its administrative offices.

GSK Stockmann has been advising FONDSGRUND since its formation in January 2022. Partners Michael Jani and Max Wilmanns from GSK Stockmann’s Hamburg office led an interdisciplinary team working together across multiple locations on the structuring of this first club deal as well as on all real estate, tax, investment and antitrust law issues relating to the purchase.

Advisers of FONDSGRUND:

GSK Stockmann: Michael Jani (real estate, lead), Max Wilmanns (corporate), Wolfgang Jegodka (antitrust law), Dennis Stenzel (investment law); Associates: Robin Koza (real estate), Johanna Baumann (corporate), Nicolas Hoffmann (projects & public sector), Felix Schill, Marc Nostitz (both tax).
